Trademark News & Screw-ups Blogger sues city official over 'Wedge Live' trademark dispute - StarTribune.com

What's really fascinating is not that a blogger's views would clash with a city official. It's not even that the city official would find no better way to silence the blogger than by trying to trademark the name of the blogger's blog. It's not even that the city official would voluntarily abandon her trademark application after the oh-so-expected social media outrage. It's not even that the blogger is now suing the city official. What is truly fascinating is that the blogger STILL hasn't filed his own trademark application to protect the name of his blog that he has been growing for 4 years. THAT is truly beyond my comprehension. To me, it's just criminal disregard for your own business and your own brand. I mean, you have been shown that your brand is unprotected. You find lawyers to fight over it. But you still don't do the one logical -- and least expensive, I should add - that would protect your brand federally across the U.S. Seriously?!
