If you're a small business, you may not need to register 18 trademarks just in case you might end up using them in your product lineup, but this shows how successful businesses treat their brands. BMW may never have an iX9, but it sure doesn't want to find itself fighting over the brand if it did launch that model. As I often say, if you have an urgent need to trademark your brand, it usually means you're too late. There is always some element of hope and prediction that goes into trademarking strategy. Your role as an entrepreneur is to make sure your hopes and predictions are one step ahead of those you might want to take a free ride on your dream.
