Great article that shows the benefits of trademarking. Except it doesn't mention that it is still impossible to register trademarks for any marijuana-based products in the U.S. Trademark registration is Federal, and on the Federal level, cannabis is still illegal, which is why USPTO currently refuses all trademark applications that are designed to cover the actual marijuana products. Yes, you can still register cannabis brands in connection with clothing, or education, or other products and services—as long as they don't cover the actual product. That the article specifically targeting marijuana trademarks fails to mention this is, at the very least, surprising...
