Trademark News & Screw-ups WSU says McMorris Rodgers needs to stop using university trademarked phrase

WSU has applied for or registered 56 trademarks with USPTO. "Go Cougs" is not one of them. At best, the university can rely on their common-law rights in the slogan. Either way, the use of the tagline is hardly a typical trademark infringement. If anything, it's more about false association and endorsement. Which is not necessarily an easy thing to prove.
