Make the question clear
A business name, an original photograph and a new invention raise different questions. Start by identifying what you want to protect and where you need protection.
Meet the founder
Canadian intellectual property lawyer, founder of Trademark Factory®, author and speaker.
You put time, money and imagination into your business. Understanding how to protect its name should not leave you with more questions than answers. Andrei built Trademark Factory® around that challenge: helping entrepreneurs make clearer decisions about their brands.
Andrei's interest in intellectual property became personal when his father, a composer, discovered that his music had been used in an advertisement without permission. Helping his father challenge that use became the starting point for a career in IP.
His work as a copyright lawyer and intellectual property lawyer helped shape the business he leads today. After practising in Russia, he moved to Canada, returned to law school and established his own firm. That experience became part of the foundation for Trademark Factory®.
As founder and CEO, Andrei brings that background to Trademark Factory®, a business focused on helping entrepreneurs understand and protect their brands. For U.S. matters, he collaborates with U.S. lawyers who have more than 20 years of experience.

A clear scope makes planning easier. Your selected package and service agreement set out the work, fees and any applicable guarantee.

Your business name or logo
If your question concerns a brand identifier, start with trademark services. Tell the team what you sell, the name or logo you use and the countries that matter to your business.
Your original creative work
If your question concerns the use of your writing, images, music or other original work, you may need a copyright lawyer. The right help depends on the work involved and the country where you need protection.
A wider IP issue
Patent, licensing or dispute questions may call for a different specialist. Intellectual property lawyers and intellectual property firms have different areas of practice. Match their experience to your issue and the jurisdiction involved.
Local knowledge can be valuable. For a brand expanding beyond its home market, experience in the countries where it needs protection matters too. Start with your business goals and the issue you want to resolve.

That depends on your issue and where you need protection. Searches such as “intellectual property lawyer near me” or “intellectual property attorney near me” can help you find options. Alongside location, consider the professional's qualifications, relevant experience and the way you prefer to work together. In-person meeting arrangements should be agreed directly.
